Each one of us has suffered through the h-angry pangs. Where hunger and frustration meet, make love and produce an annoyingly difficult offspring, gluttony.  This is when binge eating rears its ugly head.

We aren’t hungry when stressed and even if we are, it is blown out of proportion by our mind. So what do we do? We tend to sway towards the “comfort food.” Comfort food, one of the chief reasons for more than half the lifestyle diseases that prevail today and also the reason for putting obesity on the pedestal.

The solution? Easier said then done but these 5 healthy alternatives to comfort food can help you relieve not only stress but also prevent over-eating.

#1 Tea

Be it green tea or black tea it can help lower stress levels and kill the overeating drive. Tea is a much better alternative then other caffeine products like coffee and soda.

Tea

#2 Oranges

These juicy treats filled with vitamin C are an amazing way to curb the stress levels. Vitamin C is known to ease down the stress hormone, Cortisol.

#3 Yogurt

Yogurt is a good antioxidant and has vitamin C. Add a bowl of yogurt to your meal or have flavored yogurt as snack.

#4 Water

It is recommended to drink a glass of water 30 minutes before you sit down to have your meal. Water helps avoid over-eating. Avoid flavored water as flavors tend to make you more hungry then curb hunger.

#5 Salads

A common misconception, salads are not bleck! Just dice your favorite veggies and add salt, pepper and few lemon drops. You could also buy dressings to make your salad more flavorful. We recommend french, italian and balsamic vinaigrette. Stay away from dressings that include mayo!
