We eagerly wait for Bollywood remakes of Hollywood movies but most of the time we are disappointed. From Bang Bang to our very favorite Sholay, Bollywood has taken a lot of inspiration not just from Hollywood but from movies all over the world. Even Harry Potter wasn’t spared. Some touched our hearts while some just made us want to leave and run.

But it is not always that Bollywood gets inspired from outside World. There have been times when Bollywood movies inspired Hollywood film makers. While Hollywood certainly inspired South-East Asian movies; here are 5 instances when Hollywood got inspired by Bollywood.

#1 Leap Year (2010) – Jab We Met (2007)

Leap Year, an Amy Adams movie, is about a girl who is heading out to meet her boyfriend but on the way meets another man who helps her complete the trip and she, eventually falls for him. The story line is a little similar isn’t it?

#2 Fear (1996) – Darr (1993)

Not just the name but even couple of scenes were copied directly. The violent love story inspired Hollywood to make a similar one but with a different story line. There were quite a few similarities between the two. For instance, the scene in which SRK carves Kiran’s name on his chest was copied.

#3 Just Go With It (2011) – Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005)

This is movie resembles the original movie a lot! Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler starrer movie is about a doctor who asks his secretary to pretend to be his wife to support a lie he told his girlfriend. The Hindi version was inspired by an old classic which was again inspired by a French movie. Web of Inspirations!

#4 A Common Man (2013) – A Wednesday (2008)

Ben Kingsley’s A Common Man is an official remake of Naseeruddin Shah’s A Wednesday. Both the movies had extra-ordinary star cart and won several awards.

#5 Pearl Harbour (2001) – Sangam (1964)

A love triangle set during an ongoing war is the story line of Pearl Harbour. The movie was inspired by Raj Kapoor’s Sangam and got nominated for four Academy Awards.

It is not just Bollywood but the entire movie fraternity get inspiration from each other.
